How to activate Google Account Password as your Phone ?
Go to accounts.google.com from a secure device. It will ask you for your password. Now go to "Signing in to Google" section. Here you will find the option to turn on this feature.

Once you click to activate this feature, it will do certain checks, such as finding your android phone which is using the same google account and checking if the screen lock is enabled or not. If your screen lock in not enabled then it will ask you to do so, to make your account secure.

After completing a few steps this feature will be turned on.

What if my phone is not handy ?
In such case you will have the option to enter the password and access the account.

What if my phone is lost and somebody else tries to access my google account ?
To save you from such a hack, google checks if your screen lock is enabled before turning on this feature. If your phone is lost and in a locked condition then its secure. However you can easily track your phone or disable google account in that phone by simply accessing the account.google.com page from any other device. You can also erase the sensitive data from your phone using this service.

How to Calculate Walking Distances using Google Maps

Have you ever wondered that if you can calculate the walking distances in your neighborhood without going out of your home. You have reached this page because you might be willing to do so.

Yes its possible to measure the short distances (or walking distance) between two places and also calculate the time required to cover that distance on foot or car. You can do so by using Google maps. Google maps can be accessed through maps.google.com .

Here are the steps to measure the Distance between two locations

• Open maps.google.com
• Once the page is loaded, zoom to the location where you want to measure the distance.
• You will also see a direction dialogue box at top left corner of the page as shown below.

• Click on the direction link  in that direction dialogue box. It will expand the direction dialogue box, just like shown below.

• Now click on the location (starting point), from where you want to measure distance. Then it will appear like shown below.

• Now click on the destination point in the map. Now Google maps will check all routes and their distances (just like shown below).

• Same routes also displayed on map as shown below.

As you can see that it is one of the best ways to measure the distance through different routes and time taken to cover that distance on foot. If you want to see the satellite view of that route, then this feature is also available in google maps by using the satellite image symbol shown at the bottom left corner on the page.

Fetch as Google has Changed : Unlimited Fetch and Render

Fetch as Google

"Fetch as Google" is a common tool used by webmasters to index their latest website content on Google. Once you fetch the post or page and then index it, its indexed in Google search engine within a few minutes. I have used it several times myself. But today i noticed some changes in this tool and i am discussing it here.

New Fetch and Render Button

Previously we use to get a "Fetch" button. But now there are two buttons, first is "Fetch" and second is "Fetch and Render" . Here Rendering means that Google will take a screen shot of the page that you have rendered. Previous Google just used to Fetch the text content but now the rendering feature enable it to take screen shot of the page.

Unlimited Fetch and Render ?

Previously there was a limit of 500 fetches/week for every Google Webmasters account. And this limit is still there. Frankly speaking i have never used this limit to the maximum amount. So even if google st it to unlimited then it will not increase usage of this tool. But its the decision of Google to keep it on 500 fetches/week.

I am using this tool from past few years and will continue to use it. I will update the information on this page after using the new features of "Fetch as Google" .

• Now go to right upper corner in google page. It will show your profile picture with a drop down arrow.
• Click on that arrow, it will show a box showing details of your account. It shows two buttons on bottom part, which are "Add Account" and "Sign Out". Go to "Add Account" and it will ask you to add login details of your second account. 

• So now your two google accounts are connected. 
• Now whenever you want to switch from one account to another account, just go to right upper corner of google page and it will show you both accounts in it and you can choose any one of them.

So thus switching between google accounts become easy and you don't need to enter your login details again and again.

To find the latest indexed pages of a website on Google, you have to follow the following steps. Here i am taking example of my website bestrix.blogspot.com .
1) Open Google and search site:yoursitename.com . The image below show search for site:bestrix.blogspot.com .

2) Once the results are displayed, click on the Search Tools button. It will show various advanced search options.
3) Now click on the dropdown menu named "Any Time". It will show various timeframe options as shown in the image below. You have to select the timeframe that suits you best.

4) Here i have chosen the option of Past Month. After that you will get a dropdown menu named "Sorted by Relevance", as shown in the image below.

5) When you click "Sorted by Relevance", you will get an option to "sort by date" as shown is the image below.

6) Once it sorted by date your results are sorted in the order they are indexed by google.

This is the best method to find latest indexed pages of a website.

After 1st April 2013 Google Adsense will not show realtime Estimated Earnings for "Adsense for Content Host". It means you will not be able to see your youtube earnings in your Adsense Account on realtime basis. It will updated in Adsense account after nearly 2 days.
It means your "Adsense for Content Host" earnings of 1st April will be shown on 3rd April.

Google has done this update to make Youtube Analytics better. But till now it has made adsense users uncomfortable. Especially those users who have several Youtube accounts connected to a single Adsense account. Till 31st March they were able to check earnings of all Youtube accounts on a single Adsense Account, but now they have to check all youtube accounts separately.

How to get started with Google Keep on your Android Device or PC

Google yesterday officially announced its new note-taking service, named Google Keep, which allows users to sync notes and to-do lists across your computer, phone and tablet using your Google account. But now the app right now is only available for android devices running Android 4.0.3 and up, or through the Google Drive Web site. Today here I will introduce you how to get started with Google's new note-taking app Keep.

Of course, in order to get started with Google Keep on your android device, you should download the Android app and install it on your device in advance. You can find the tool at drive.google.com/keep or in the Play Store for Android 4.0 and up.

After installing the app you'll be prompted to select the Google account you want to use with Keep. Once that's done, you can begin keeping notes. There are four different methods you can use to enter a note:

• A quick note directly from the text box on the initial screen.
• Add a checklist by tapping on the check mark icon.
• Create a voice memo by tapping on the microphone. All memos are instantly transcribed, keeping both the audio and text in the note.
• Add a photo as a note by tapping on the camera.

At any time you can add a checklist to an existing note by tapping on the menu button and selecting "Show Checkboxes."

In addition to this, You can also select a different color for each note. So just select the favorite color you like. 

You can also add a photo to any existing note by tapping on the camera along the top of the screen. Any photo you add has to be taken at the time you add it; you can't add previously snapped photos from your Gallery.

Once you're done with a note you can archive it by swiping in either direction across the note.

To rearrange notes you simply tap and hold on a note and drag it to where you want it. You can change the layout between multicolumn and single-column view through the menu.

Now There are two widgets included with the app. The first widget will place a shortcut bar to create notes with, and will let you scroll through your existing notes directly from your home screen. The second widget is only a shortcut bar. Should you be using an Android device running Android 4.2 or later, you'll be able to add either widget to your lock screen for quick access to your Keep entries.

The Google Drive page for Keep is pretty straightforward. You can add, edit, archive, and delete your notes with just a few clicks, mirrors the basic function as the Android app.

The combination of various note types is nice; a checklist for shopping, photos to help you remember something, and voice notes for when you can't type a long note. But can it beat alternatives like Evernote, which now had 34 million users? The answer is no and There's some work Google need to do with Keep.

Index Status is checking how many pages of your website / blog are indexed on search engines. Especially search Engine like Google. If your new pages / posts are not indexed in Google then they will not be shown in the search results.

You can easily find your site's index status if you are using Google Webmasters. But it does not show the current results. It will show you the data that is few hours old or even days old. In that case how can you find if your recent posts are indexed or not. 

How to check Index Status without using Webmasters ?

There are various ways to find it. I will discuss few methods which i have implement on my website bestrix.blogspot.com to check index status. If you have posted an article on your website few minutes ago and want to find weather its indexed or not, then there are following methods to find it.

Method 1 : 

Search the title of you post in Google. For example i searched for "How to make Dynamic URL in HTML by using Events" , which was recently published on my blog. It showed the following result, which means its indexed.

Method 2 :

Search the URL of your post to find the exact result, as i have done in the screenshot below.

If you want to check more accurate results, then you can search for it inside the inverted commas.

How to Use Google Voice Search on PC or Laptop

Google Voice Search

Google voice search is new advancement made by Google in searching. Now you don't even need to type words to search for them. You can simply speak it on your earphone-mic and Google will search it for you.

• Open Google in your web browser.

• On Right side in the search  text box, there is a mic.  Click on that mic button and it will ask you to speak.

• Speak something. For example i speak, "Google is the best"'. It will send the recording to google server to translate it into text.

Find Websites Copying your content: Secret Google Technique

Content copying is serious problem for professional bloggers. If somebody use your content without letting you know then nothing irritates you more than that. But good thing is that we can avoid it just by taking some simple precautions.

I used word precautions, because i am not going to ask you to use a widget or script to stop this. The purpose of this post is to be helpful to new bloggers who are not so tech-savvy.

So here we go :

Step 1: Use name of your blog or website in each post. There is no need to hyperlink it. Just use plain name. As i can use bestrix.blogspot.com. Now if someone copies your content, then most probably your blog/website name will be there. Because such copycats only remove links (as they appear blue). They don't have time read complete post and edit it. 

Step 2: Now search for your site name "bestrix.blogspot.com" (with inverted commas) on google once in a week (Like shown in the image below). On first few pages you will find links of your own site. But afterwards you might find sites which are copying your content.

Step 3: Now suppose you find a site "duplicate.com" and you want check how many posts it has copied.

Now you have to search for site:duplicate.com "bestrix.blogspot.com" .

Step 4: Now you can contact these website admins to remove those posts. If they don't then you can ask google to remove them from their SERP.

Sometimes when you try to download android apps from Google play app store or play downloader games like Angle Bird, they sometimes push annoying ads to your smartphone, and you find it really boring that you want to remove all the annoying ads on your android device. 1. Download free app called AirPush Detector

AirPush Detector is the app that detects other installed applications to see which apps appear to use notification ad frameworks and users can easily uninstall them.

The app can't block ads, but at least it can tell you which apps are causing them. So you must uninstall the app to stop the ads.

Now for the trick

• After you've detected and deleted the apps which push ads, head to the Google Play Store.
• Once inside the Play Store, tap on Settings.
• Inside Settings, uncheck "Google AdMob Ads”, this will make sure that you will no longer receive targeted ads from Google.

Apart from AirPush Detector, there are similar apps in Google Play Store like Adblock Plus or AppBrain Ad Detector.

AdFree removes most ads in the browser and other apps. It does this by nullifying requests to known host names in the system hosts file, and AdAway is a similar app like AdFree.
